Barricade Herbicide controls weeds before they become a problem. It is long-lasting preventative weed control for up to 6 months and can be used in a variety of situations, including turf, lawns, garden beds and potted plants.

How does Barricade Pre-Emergent Herbicide HG work?

As a pre-emergent herbicide application, the delivery of Barricade close to the soil surface will ensure optimum results. Barricade should be applied before weeds germinate and then lightly watered in within 24 hours after application and irrigation,

Barricade locks onto the top 1-2 cm of the soil, providing a barrier that controls germinating weeds for up to 6 months. Barricades re-entry period is once it is dry on the leaf or washed in. Please keep in mind that renovations post-application may break up the barrier set at the top of the soil, in which case the Barricade Herbicide would need to be reapplied after recovery. The application of Barricade Pre-Emergent Herbicide HG can be carried out well in advance of weeds germinating and still deliver season-long control.

How To Use:

Apply Barricade Pre-Emergent Herbicide before weed germination for preventative control of up to 6 months.
Apply in early spring (summer weeds) or late summer to early autumn for Winter Grass.
Barricade Pre-Emergent Herbicide does not control weeds that have already germinated; therefore, a post-emergent herbicide should be applied to remove these weeds.

Situation: Established lawns and turf grass, including: Buffalo Grass, Carpet Grass, Couch (Common, Hybrid), Qld Blue Couch, Kikuyu, Seashore Paspalum and Zoysia

Weeds: Barnyard Grass, Crab Grass, Parramatta Grass, Rat’s Tail Fescue, Summer Grass, Crowsfoot Grass, African Lovegrass, Bahia Grass, Kentucky Blue Grass, Paspalum and Winter Grass

Rate:

Garden Sprayer: Use 30 mL per 10 L of water and spray over 100 m²
Watering Can: Mix 3 mL in 9 L of water and evenly apply over 10 m²

Critical Comments:

For all weeds (except Winter Grass);

Critical Comments:

Apply before weed emergence for residual control of up to 4 months in potted plants and up to 6 months in garden beds under mulch.
Use higher rates in situations of high weed pressure.
Apply the product to garden beds and wash in before applying mulch so that the herbicide reaches the soil.
Water immediately after application with a minimum of 3mm of rain or irrigation.

Tips For Use

How To Prepare:

Mix Barricade Pre-Emergent Herbicide as per the instructions below into a diluted mixture ready for application.
If the diluted solution is left standing for some time, make sure you shake/agitate before use.

Mixing: Garden Sprayer

Before opening, shake the Barricade Pre-Emergent bottle well.
Add half the required amount of water to your garden sprayer.
Add the required quantity of Barricade Pre-Emergent to the half-full garden sprayer.
Add the remaining water required and ensure the sprayer is closed before agitating the sprayer.
Only mix sufficient spray solution for the application area and for the day of mixing.

Mixing: Watering Can

Before opening, shake the Barricade Pre-Emergent bottle well.
Add half the required amount of water to your watering can.
Add the required quantity of Barricade Pre-Emergent to your watering can.
Add the remaining water required and use the process to agitate the mixture.
Only mix sufficient spray solution for the application area and for the day of mixing.

How To Apply:

Lawn

Measure the lawn area before application to determine the size and make up enough mixture to apply over the area.
Evenly spray (or pour) the mixed solution over the area to be treated.
Lightly water in, within 24 hours of application.
Thoroughly clean all equipment after application.
Empty and thoroughly rinse equipment such as sprayer, hoses, nozzles, and watering can with clean water.

Garden beds and potted plants

Measure the garden bed or potted plant area before application, and make up enough mixture to apply to that area.
Apply before weed emergence (remove existing weeds) and ensure the product is placed as close to the soil surface as possible.
Ensure the product is applied before mulching.
Wash in immediately with a minimum of 3 mm of rain or irrigation.
Thoroughly clean all equipment after application.
Empty and thoroughly rinse equipment such as sprayer, hoses, nozzles, and watering can with clean water.

Restraints:

Do not apply to turf under stress, newly seeded, newly laid turf or sprigged turf.
Delay application until turf is at 100% cover and established with a root system developed beyond 3 cm depth.
Do not apply if heavy rain has been forecast within 48 hours or to waterlogged soil.
Do not water or irrigate to the point of runoff within 3 days of application.
Do not apply in vegetable gardens or around fruit trees or sensitive plants.
Do not apply to garden beds over the top of mulch.
Do not apply to recently re-potted or newly potted seeds, cutting divisions or plants.
Allow a period of establishment to allow a substantial root system to develop.
Do not plant seeds in treated soil for 6 months after application.

Precautions:

Do not allow spray or drift to contact recently planted or non-established plants, or vegetable gardens.
Do not allow chemical containers or spray to get into drains, sewers, streams or ponds.
Do not replant any crop, ornamentals or overseed with cool-season grasses for winter cover to treated areas for a period of 6 months after application.
Do not allow entry into treated areas until the spray has dried.

Storage:

Store in the closed, original container in a cool, dry place out of the reach of children.
Do not store in direct sunlight.

Safety Directions:

May irritate the skin, will irritate the eyes.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
When preparing the product for use and using the product, wear safety glasses.
If the product or spray gets in the eyes, wash them out immediately with water.
Wash your hands after use.
After each day’s use, wash safety glasses.

First aid is not generally required.
